How buying a share works

  1. Reserve. Pick a quarter, half or whole and pay the deposit. You're buying a share of a live animal from our family farm.
  2. Cut sheet. Lewis walks you through it: steak thickness, roasts, short ribs, ground. Or send us your own list.
  3. Processing. Your animal is processed for you, by name. The packages are labeled “Not For Sale” because the beef is already yours.
  4. Pickup or delivery. We invoice the balance (hanging weight × $9.50, minus your deposit) and get it to you. Pickup in River Ridge or delivery. See ordering for details.

What “Not For Sale” on the label means

It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the beef. When you buy a share, you're buying part of the animal while it's alive, so the beef is yours before it's ever cut. It's processed custom-exempt, just for you and the other share owners, and the label says “Not For Sale” so nobody resells it. It's for your table and your family.

Boxes and individual cuts are different: those are USDA-inspected retail packages we sell already cut and wrapped.

Lewis will go over your cut sheet with you by phone: steak thickness, roasts, short ribs, how much ground. Or send your own list.
